Tottenham schedule Joachim Andersen transfer meeting in bid to beat Man Utd to Fulham star

Tottenham are set to sit down with the representatives of Joachim Andersen in the next few weeks to discuss a potential transfer this summer. The Danish centre-back has made his way onto Spurs’ summer shortlist and the club’s recruitment team is now set to begin work on a deal.

Potentially problematically for Tottenham, they are not the only interested party though.

Andersen has been a huge success since arriving on loan at Craven Cottage last summer and has even worn the captain’s armband for Scott Parker’s side.

The 24-year-old has got his career back on track following a disappointing debut season in Ligue 1 with Lyon last term, following his £25million move from Sampdoria.

Manchester United are also reportedly keeping tabs on the defender, while Fulham would look to make the loan move permanent should they secure Premier League safety.

And although he is one of Spurs’ top targets, Tottenham’s transfers plans may hinge on the future of Jose Mourinho.

Not only that but the club’s budget will also be impacted by where they finish in the Premier League table.

Failure to secure a top-four spot is likely to limit spending and restrict the calibre of players the club can attract.

Lyon chief Juninho has already conceded that Andersen is expected to stay on English shores: “I think he will want to extend his adventure in the Premier League.

“He has played well at Fulham, and if he wants to come back, we will welcome him with open arms.”

Tottenham are in need of a rethink at centre-back and the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Davison Sanchez will be re-assessed at the end of the season.

Sanchez is the subject of interest from Sevilla and his former club Ajax, while Alderweireld is an option for PSV Eindhoven.

Ideally, Spurs would love to sign a leader at centre-back and somebody that can revamp their leaky defence. Andersen could well be that man…
