Miley Cyrus’ mom, Tish Cyrus, admits there are “definitely issues” in her marriage to Dominic Purcell, amid younger daughter Noah’s claims she was dating the “Prison Break” alum before he wed her mother.
Tish, 56, who married the 54-year-old actor in August, spoke out on Thursday’s episode of daughter Brandi’s podcast, “Sorry We’re Stoned.”
“There are definitely issues,” said Tish, who has not publicly remarked on the rumors of 24-year-old Noah’s former romance with Purcell. “But issues also — because I love him — that I’m dealing with.”
Neither Noah nor son Braison, 29, were in attendance when Tish and Purcell wed, though Miley, 31, did serve as maid of honor.
“I was so scared when I first met Dom, my husband, which was not that long ago,” said the music manager. “But it is crazy because I am a Taurus and he is an Aquarius, and every single thing I read said, ‘Don’t even do it. It is the absolute worst pairing.’”
Noting she was “coddled a lot” as an adopted only child, Tish said she ‘kind of [has] needed that” in relationships.
“But that’s just not who he is. He is not emotional,” she continued. Cyrus added that while the differences in the couple’s personalities “could be a problem,” she no longer finds herself “getting so offended because I respect and love him … we have conversations.”
Communicating like that, she admitted, is something she’s “never been good at.”
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus were married from late 2003 until April 2022 — though they separated multiple times during those intervening years. While the former couple made a blended family, each having children from other relationships, Tish and the “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner, 62, together welcomed Miley, Braison and Noah.
Billy Ray has also since remarried, tying the knot with Aussie singer Firerose in October.
