Thousands raised for Sir David Amess' favourite animal charity – how you can donate

The Express’ sister site, Essex Live, chose to raise money for AWR, a charity that was close to Sir David’s heart and was set up by the British Veterinary Association (BVA).

Sir David’s Westminster office was reportedly filled with budgies and fish, and many photographs show the politician holding dogs in his arms.

During his long-standing career, the Southend West MP campaigned for key animal welfare issues.
