It is one of 29 such properties on Trowlock Island, nestled in the Thames near Teddington, South West London.

The island is about a third of a mile long and 33ft from the shore, with access from an original chain link ferry.

It is also home to the Royal Canoe Club’s clubhouse and gym, and a wooded area which is a haven for bats and owls.

The island, like many on the Thames, has changed over time.

The name Trow, comes from a type of barge averaging 50-60 tonnes, and in 1910 a boat building firm was located on the island.
