The highly-anticipated return of The Handmaid’s Tale has left fans speculating the fate of its fearless hero June (played by Elisabeth Moss). With less than a month until the show’s season four premiere on Hulu in the US, fans are going wild with speculation of what lies in store for the drama’s heroine and her friends.
After June’s shooting and subsequent rescue by her fellow handmaids in the season three finale, June’s stay in Gilead could prove to be even more dangerous than before.
It will soon be discovered by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) in season four that June was responsible for the plane full of Gilead children arriving safely in Canada.
June’s life on the run could be more unpredictable than ever before as she prepares for the fight against Gilead.
June still hasn’t reunited with her best friend Moira (Samira Wiley) and the two are both living in very different worlds.

“She’s Public Enemy number one in Gilead. She’s not going to last another week here,” a terrified Moira proclaims in the most recent trailer for season four.
Moira managed to escape for Canada in season one and is currently living with June’s husband, Luke Bankole (OT Fagbenle), and June’s daughter Holly, whose father is the recently appointed Commander Nick Blaine (Max Minghella).
June’s first born daughter with Luke is somewhere in Gilead and she has been renamed Agnes MacKenzie (Jordana Blake).
Moira and Luke have been working together to raise Holly despite scrambling to discover whether or not June and Hannah are alive in Gilead.
Elisabeth Moss spoke to Deadline in January 2021 about her thoughts on the upcoming season, “I will say that the first half of this season is definitely bigger than we’ve ever done.”
“It has been incredibly challenging. It has been, on a production level, really, really outside of our box, and it’s just bigger in every way.”
Show creator Bruce Miller added to Moss’ remarks in an interview with The Wrap: “It was time for s**t to happen.”
Fans and critics will be hoping the fourth season delivers on a faster pace and more nailbiting action The Handmaid’s Tale season three failed to deliver – and what better chance to do so than with June and Moira working together to evade Gilead’s forces.
June is preparing to strike back against Gilead, in particular at Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) and his wife Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) who both brutalised her for years.
June is slowly morphing into the rebel leader she must become in order to strike, and her quest for justice and revenge is leading her down a dangerous path.
Fans will have to wait and see whether Moira is able to join the fight and support her friend on her path of justice and revenge.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 begins on April 28 in the USA on Hulu.
