A brand new, full length trailer for the fourth season of popular dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale has offered some clues for some of the bleak events that could transpire when the series returns. With just a few short weeks before Hulu releases the highly anticipated next instalment, June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) could be running out of time to reunite with her daughter.
The second trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale season four has prompted a depressing new theory regarding June’s estranged daughter, Hannah Bankole (Jordana Blake).
Hulu’s popular drama series will finally be returning on Wednesday, April 28 after suffering major production delays during the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, fans have just over three weeks to wait before Elisabeth Moss reprises her award-winning role as the rebellious Handmaid June Osborne.
In the latest footage, June continues the fight against Gilead whilst on the run after smuggling a group of vulnerable children across to Canada at the end of season three.

Although some scenes feature the show’s protagonist reuniting with her imprisoned daughter, viewers think their time together could be painfully brief.
Ahead of the premiere of season four, one fan took to Reddit to propose Hannah could be more acclimatised to her new life in Gilead than she wants to believe.
They pointed to a brief yet impactful scene with June’s husband, Luke Bankole (O-T Fagbenle) as evidence for the new theory.
User OfHolland posted: “In the trailer we hear Luke saying: ‘She chose to stay in Gilead’.”
Having grown up under Gilead’s oppressive regime, this theory suggests Hannah may have completely forgotten about June and will choose to remain with her foster family.
No spoilers will be found here, but this Handmaid’s Tale enthusiast also speculated whether the television adaptation would follow a similar storyline to Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel, The Testaments.
The latest trailer for the series teases the next steps in June’s plan to take down Gilead for the inside, but her attempts to liberate her daughter could be in vain.
The fan continued: “June tries to get Hannah out of Gilead, but Hannah chooses to stay in Gilead herself. So the ‘She’ Luke is referring to is not June, but Hannah.”
“And, the ‘Destroying’ June is referring to is about destroying Hannah into thinking she wants to live in Gilead.”
Following her conspicuous absence in the previous teaser, the new trailer has confirmed June’s former captor Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) will have a pivotal role in the next season.
After brainwashing her daughter into believing it’s in Hannah’s best interests to remain in Gilead, Serena Joy could finally face her retribution once June tracks her down.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 premieres Wednesday, April 28 on Hulu.
