Donnachadh McCarthy told Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid that it was “shocking” she was not prepared to give up her pets in order to decrease her carbon footprint and provide a better future for her children. The environmental activist also questioned the ITV presenter’s understanding of the current global climate crisis.
Ms Reid said: “Firstly, I want to look after my kids and my pets.”
Mr McCarthy replied: “That is quite shocking, do you understand the level of crisis that carbon emissions are currently in the planet?”
The GMB host asked: “You think I should not be looking after my children and pets?”
The environmental activist said: “I am saying to look after your children, you have to look after your carbon emissions because we are in an emergency.

“Even the Government accepts that we are in an emergency.
“The scientists have said we have passed the safe tipping point, this may mean by the middle of this century when our kids are just 30 years old, they may be facing a planet that is facing starvation, floods and climate destruction.”
