STUDENTS have hit the town in Fresher’s week mayhem – after social distancing ruined last year’s celebrations.

Young people were seen hitting the clubs with their new freedom, ahead of university semesters starting in the coming weeks.

With night clubs opening their doors once again after last year’s Fresher’s Week was affected by pandemic restrictions, the revellers were able to enjoy their week on partying on Monday night.

Lockdown limited last year’s celebrations as bars imposed curfews and booking capacities of 6.

The Fresher’s event covered by universities offers new students the chance to meet new people and offer ways of getting involved in university life.

Groups of newly formed friends from Birmingham City University, Aston University, University of Birmingham and Newman University put on their best fits and posed for photographs.

Meanwhile some notably had more to drink than others with bouncers on hand to check on their welfare.

Several were attended to by paramedics who carted at least two off to awaiting ambulances.

Police officers were on hand although the night passed off without much hassle.

Freshers Week 2021 will continue throughout this week and into the next as some universities start later than others.
