Snowpiercer season 2: Fans on edge as two-part finale pushed back one week

The second season of Snowpiercer has gone from strength to strength, in part thanks to the introduction of Sean Bean’s deliciously cruel villain, Mr. Wilford. Unfortunately, fans will now have to wait two weeks for the next instalment to hit TNT and Netflix as the series gears up for an explosive two hour season finale.

TNT have confirmed the second season of Snowpiercer won’t be airing another episode until Monday, March 29.

Thankfully, fans’ patience will definitely be rewarded as they’ll be treated to a double dose of post-apocalyptic action when the series returns.

After the latest instalment, ‘The Eternal Engineer’, the series’ official Twitter account confirmed the news as viewers were left reeling by Wilford’s latest nefarious schemes.

“Well,” they began. “The man in the engine matches the name hanging in the hall, at least. Small favors.”

“Where do we go from here? Return for the TWO PART Snowpiercer finale, airing in two weeks on March 29th.”

On this week’s episode, Wilford managed to win one over on Snowpiercer and the Tailies by sending the rebellious Andre Layton (played by Daveed Diggs) to Big Alice.

With both Layton and Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) separated from their crew, all hope seems lost heading into the upcoming climax.

Fans are already terrified for Melanie’s potentially tragic fate after she was stranded alone in the Freeze, and there are now concerns that Layton could eventually join her.

Meanwhile, a tension-filled promo has teased the final stages of Wilford’s deranged plan to take back control of the train.

Rather than one extended episode, the two-part finale will air episodes nine and ten together for an unmissable TV event to cap off the second season.

In ‘The Show Must Go On’ and ‘Into the White’, Layton’s reluctant allies fear for their safety, whilst Josie Wellstead (Katie McGuinness) experiments with her newly acquired abilities.

Although the wait for the conclusion will indeed be painful, most fans appeared happy to remain patient if it means being rewarded with a satisfying end to Snowpiercer season two.

However, one viewer admitted: “What are we supposed to do for two weeks? My brain will go crazy imagining all sorts of things.”

And another said: “I just don’t even know what to think anymore. Wish we didn’t have to wait two weeks, but this season finale is going to be the definition of EPIC.”

Thankfully, the popular sci-fi drama has also been renewed for a third season, so there is even more Snowpiercer to follow after season two wraps up at the end of March.

Snowpiercer season 2 concludes Monday, March 29 on TNT and the following Tuesday on Netflix.
