The cars were parked on Musgrove Road. Many workers park on this road for free to avoid parking permit costs. It is believed the incident happened between Tuesday, February 9 and Wednesday, February 10.

An investigation has been launched by Avon and Somerset Police, who are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the police told Somerset Live: “We’ve carried out house-to-house enquiries in the street. As of yet, we have had no further reports [of criminal damage]. Enquiries continue.”

The news was shared also shared on the Facebook Group, Taunton Matters.

A fundraiser has been set up by Leonie Mills, a worker at Musgrove Park Hospital to help those pay for the damage.

More £1,600 has been raised so far to reimburse the cost of new tyres for those affected.

Leonie Mills: “I felt as a community we needed to support our heroes. Any leftover funds will be donated to Love Musgrove.”

After hitting the target, she shared an update on the JustGiving page, saying: “Thank you, thank you, this is incredible, I cannot thank you all enough for the generous donations.

“We are certainly going to have enough to reimburse all new tyre purchases, donate to Love Musgrove and I have received a request to possibly donate some sensory toys to the children’s ward.”
