Matt Hancock clashed with Alastair Campbell on Good Morning Britain today when the Health Secretary joined the ITV show to discuss mental health, social care and the Government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic to date. Tony Blair’s former spokesman demanded Hancock reveal when there will be a public inquiry into the pandemic and claimed people were “sick” of the Government putting that announcement off.
Campbell said: “When are you going to deliver the commitment that keeps being made to have a full pubic inquiry into Covid-19, when I suspect we’ll find that a lot of mistakes were made in the early days, which you don’t want to focus on because you want to focus on vaccinations?
“Please don’t tell me now is not the right time because people are getting sick of hearing that.”
Hancock replied: “People know that actually we’ve been learning all the way through this.”
