Scottie Scheffler’s mugshot revealed as golf star charged with assaulting police officer

Scottie Scheffler’s mugshot has been released after the world number one was arrested and detained as he tried to enter Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky for the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday morning. The two-time major champion was seen being accosted by officers as he tried to bypass traffic caused by a fatal accident outside the entrance of the course earlier in the morning.

Scheffler has been charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic, according to ESPN. Scheffler has been released from custody and numerous reports say he is making his way from the police station in downtown Louisville to the golf course ahead of his tee time at 3.08pm BST.
