The 33-year-old marketing executive went missing last week as she was walking home from her friend’s house in south London. A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Scotland Yard has said, while detectives continue to search a property and woodland in Kent.
What happened to Sarah Everard?
Ms Everard went missing while walking home from a friend’s house on Leathwaite Road, Clapham, southwest London, at around 9pm on Wednesday March 3.
CCTV images show her wearing a green rain jacket, navy blue trousers with a white diamond pattern, and turquoise and orange trainers.
She was also thought to be wearing green headphones and a white beanie hat.
It is not known whether the officer was known to Ms Everard.
A woman in her 30s has also been arrested in connection with the case on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police are searching areas of woodland around Ashford, Kent, as well as the home and gardens of the arrested officer in Deal.
In addition to searches, police have also been making house-to-house enquiries in Clapham and Brixton.
The Met Police has said it has received more than 120 calls from the public and has visited 750 homes in the area as part of the investigation.
