Robson Green's quiet life in charming market town where homes average just £284,105

Grantchester star Robson Green, 59, enjoys a quiet life away from the screen in a charming market town where homes average £284,000.

Robson, who has played the role of Detective Inspector in Grantchester for 10 years, has been appearing on Britons’ screens for decades.

His acting career began in the BBC series Casualty before gaining national prominence as fusilier Dave Tucker in the drama series Soldier Soldier.

He later starred in several ITV dramas including Touching Evil, Grafters and Reckless, and then played clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill in the crime drama Wire in the Blood.

He’s also presented in a plethora of documentaries. One of his earliest and most successful was Tales from Northumberland with Robson Green on ITV. The series explored the actor’s home county of Northumberland and spanned three series.

Some of his other notable documentary series include Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes, Extreme Fishing, Extreme Fishing Challenge and Hadrian’s Wall with Robson Green.

Away from the screen, Robson has a quiet life in Hexham, Northumberland where he resides in an idyllic 350-year-old cottage.

The little town of Hexham is beautiful and is home to a plethora of notable attractions including Hexham House, Sele Park, Hexham Old Gaol and the impressive Hexham Abbey which was built in 674 AD.

The TV star was born in the town but grew up in Dudley, a small mining village just south of the town of Cramlington in Northumberland.

The actor’s home is believed to be located on the banks of the River Tyne and has stunning, rural surroundings.

Robson previously told Radio Times: “I’ve got Hadrian’s Wall to the north and there are pheasants and deer in the garden every morning.”

However, the property was tragically damaged by a flood in 2015 which meant he lost several personal belongings under a massive seven feet of water.

The cottage is perfect for Robson as its proximity to the River Tyne allows him to enjoy one of his favourite hobbies – fly fishing.

Since the flood, Robson’s home has undergone several renovations and is now flood-proof.

Homes in Hexham are relatively affordable with properties having an overall average price of £284,105 over the last year, according to the UK’s largest property portal Rightmove.
