His comments come as England football players Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell have been forced to self-isolate following close contact with Scottish footballer Billy Gilmour who has tested positive for covid. But a row has erupted following the news that the Scottish team is not self-isolating despite the positive case. It comes as observers argue the team would have been in the dressing room and around Gilmour a lot more than the England team. Despite this Scotland is not isolating.
Mr Max told Jeremy Vine: “What we have ended up with here is a ridiculous interpretation of the rules.
“If somebody has covid of course you have got to work out who has it and who does not have it.
“But if anybody who was organising this competition didn’t think this was going to happen.
“And then didn’t make a plan as to ‘ok if somebody within a team gets it, how do we deal with team, how do we deal with everybody around them.
“Because you have a look at the footage and they’ve all hugged!
“My view is that they have all been in this bubble, if somebody has it then you take them off and then everybody else.”
