Rep. Lauren Boebert recovering in hospital following blood clot surgery: campaign

Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert is recovering in the hospital following blood clot surgery, her campaign said.

Boerbert, 37, went to UCHealth Medical Center in Loveland, Colo., on Monday after experiencing severe swelling in one of her legs. After a CT scan, doctors found a blood clot and diagnosed her with May-Thurner Syndrome, a vascular disorder where an artery compresses a vein and disrupts blood flow. If untreated, a clot could then break off and travel to the lungs and cause a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.

She underwent surgery Tuesday to remove the clot, and a stent was inserted.

“I want to thank Dr. Rebecca Bade and the entire team at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies for their great care and providing helpful insight on my recent diagnosis,” Boebert said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado.”

She is expected to make a full recovery, according to her doctor

“We successfully performed surgery on the Congresswoman this morning and expect her to make a full recovery,” Dr. Bade said in a statement provided by the campaign. “Patients with May-Thurner Syndrome who undergo the procedure to restore blood flow are able to live and work just as they have in the past after a brief recovery.”

Boebert represents Colorado’s 3rd district but is currently running to jump to the state’s 4th district. The GOP firebrand was endorsed by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last month.
