Mr Cleverly added further sanctions will be introduced against Russia which will be even harsher than the ones introduced earlier this week.
When quizzed over whether Mr Putin wants to overthrow Ukraine and remove its government, Mr Cleverly did not think the information coming out of Russia could be trusted.
He added: “Well, the excuses that he’s been giving, justifications that he’s giving, cannot be believed.
