Actress Rebel Wilson has publicly identified the “a–hole” referenced anonymously in her upcoming memoir as Sacha Baron Cohen, declaring that she “will not be bullied or silenced” by pricy flacks or lawyers.
Wilson and Cohen co-starred in his 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby.” She is also known for her roles in “Senior Year,” “Isn’t It Romantic,” and “Pitch Perfect,” among many other films.
“It really sunk in” what people meant when they told her to avoid working with ‘a–holes,’ she said in an Instagram video earlier this month. In that video she noted that her chronicle of said offender was the subject of Chapter 23 of her upcoming book, “Rebel Rising: A Memoir,” dropping next Tuesday.
“That guy was a massive a—hole,” she said.
In a new Instagram story on Sunday night, she revealed said a–hole’s identity as Cohen.
In so doing, Wilson implied that his attorneys and reps were trying to shut her down.
“I will not be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” she wrote. “The ‘a–hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”
Cohen’s camp clapped back.
“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby,” Cohen’s reps told BBC News and other outlets in a statement.
