Biden is selling us all out to fund endless war
Port Orange, Fla.: Sleepy Joe AKA Genocide Joe is getting handled by a cabal of neo-con morons! He is continually sending hundreds of billions of dollars to the Ukrainian government. This has absolutely nothing to do with aiding Ukrainian democracy! It is part of our nation’s economic rivalry with Russia. Republicans, meanwhile, have set their sights on going after China, which will be a major mistake.
Since Oct. 7, Joe the idiot, along with his Republican counterparts, with Donald Trump as leader of that band of wolves, is going all-out to subsidize the Zionists who control Israel in their quest to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people! How much of the world has to say “No, Joe” before he ceases this madness? Most Americans polled say what Israel is doing is hideous (they killed nearly 300 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded hundreds more to free four hostages, and now place the remaining hostages in a tough spot if Hamas decides to do the full monty).
If Biden and those who whisper in his tired ears want to defeat the MAGA machine, he needs to act, and damn fast! After what the IDF has done to destroy thousands of Palestinians, Biden and his minions need to stop all funding and weaponry to Israel. At the same time, he needs to push for UN-sponsored peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Remember this, Sleepy Joe: The majority of Americans are not happy with our involvement in that war or with the Zionist machine.
For Biden to seal the deal in November, he needs to sell to Americans the idea of a universal basic income. Philip A. Farruggio
Winds of war are blowing
Clifton, N.J.: All these people who are mouthing off and demonstrating for other countries should stop. Hasn’t anyone heard that North Korea joined forces with Russia? This could be World War III approaching us. If New York gets hit with a nuke, I don’t think I will survive. It has been reported that a Russian submarine was seen 100 miles off the Florida coast. This is serious. Whatever happens, happens? I’m 73 and have lived a decent life, but these people should stop complaining and look at what’s ahead for our country: a war! Maybe the end of the world! Steve Farawell
Foreign interests
Bedford, N.Y.: No, George Latimer did not win. Special interests — in this case, the interests of a foreign country — won. What would have happened if Latimer’s entire campaign had been paid for by, say, a lobby group representing Egypt, Russia, China or even the U.K.? Would that be fine? It’s so troubling that people representing a foreign government would so openly buy a candidate! We can not afford to have any foreign interests pay for our elected officials. We already had Russia’s influence in presidential elections and look what happened! We need election reform legislation that would prohibit the purchase of political candidates if our democracy is to stay alive. But of course, election reform is a pipe dream since 99% of our elected officials who could enact such reforms have already been paid for by the lobby for a foreign government and wouldn’t want anything to change the status quo. Upending agenda
Ormond Beach, Fla.: The ideas that underpin our modern world, such as meritocracy, equality under the law, property rights, religious tolerance, modern secular education, sound finances, rational and efficient government and the encouragement of science and the arts, are under serious threat, as are our liberties. They are threatened by a woke progressive liberalism, identity politics, a socialist movement to redistribute wealth and guarantee equal outcomes rather than equal opportunity, the use of race and sexual identity to polarize us, the use of social and news media to suppress free speech and constructive debate, and by the weaponization of our justice system to control and defeat those who hold opposing views. The choice this November is bigger than any in my lifetime. Charles Michael Sitero
Moderate sensibility
Utica, N.Y.: We disrespectfully object to Voicer James Hyland’s smearing of MSNBC hosts Nicolle Wallace and Michael Steele. While Hyland drones on about Trump’s election lies, which have failed in more than 60 court cases, he also beats up on Wallace and Steele because they are Republicans who have dared to question the Big Lie. Hyland embodies one of the Republicans’ most defining attributes, something that differentiates Wallace and Steele from the MAGA lemmings: the absolute refusal to learn. Quoting the iconic words of Stephen Colbert, said right in front of Wallace’s former boss, Hyland “believes the same thing on Wednesday that he did on Monday, no matter what may have happened on Tuesday”! This is reason enough to vote Democrat in November. Joan and Jeff Ganeles

Staten Island: Memo to ABC: Try to class up that train wreck called “The View” and get Whoopi Goldberg to stop wearing her pajamas to work. Thomas Fraumeni Jr.
Working hours
Malverne, L.I.: Here we are, just days after the summer solstice, and sweltering heat has enveloped North America. Common sense says we have to get up early to get things done during the coolest part of the day. However, waiting for the bus at 7:30 a.m., you can feel the heat of the sun. By midday, the sun is high in the sky and the scorching heat radiates from the black asphalt of roads and roof tar of buildings, concrete sidewalks, brick buildings and shimmering glass towers hot enough for fried eggs and melted American cheese. By the time the evening rush starts, the sun is still high at 4 p.m. Societal norms have to change. Instead of moving the clocks forward, maybe we should move the clocks back one hour and take advantage of working hours during cooler temperatures. Kosmas Patikoglou
Not so cool
Monroe, N.J.: This is my favorite season. No, not summer — I mean hypocrite season! All of the “green” environmental zealots have their air-conditioning cranking in their green vehicles. Don’t they know this causes a lot more fossil fuel consumption? This includes electric cars that are powered by fuel-burning power plants. The chemicals that are used to run the A/C at home and at work are also bad for the planet. So, don’t be a hypocrite: Turn off your A/C. Tom Scott
Sneaky stinkers
Queens Village: What gets me about these companies claiming that odor-free deodorants last up to 72 hours is that they are obviously geared toward people who hate to shower! I am actually more concerned about the possible harmful additives and chemicals that might be in these products. Lawrence Krasner
Farm cruelty
Forest Hills: Last month, the U.S. House Agriculture Committee advanced a version of the farm bill that hurts animals, undermines states’ sovereignty and ignores the will of the electorate. The committee-approved bill contains a slew of problematic language, including an extremely harmful provision that would preempt critical state laws like California’s Proposition 12, a ballot measure approved by voters in 2018 to outlaw the sale of certain products from animals raised in the cruelest forms of confinement. But this is not the only way the House’s farm bill fails animals. It also weakens protections for dogs in puppy mills and other animals in federally licensed facilities by diluting enforcement measures under the Animal Welfare Act, and it passes up a valuable opportunity to incorporate the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act, which would prevent the inherently inhumane slaughter and export of tens of thousands of American horses for meat. Rego Park: Re “Congestion pricing remains the best way forward” (op-ed, June 25): So, “congestion pricing was intended to fill a gap” in the MTA’s 2020-24 capital plan? Had congestion pricing been in place already, the MTA knew it’d be “back to Albany next year looking for new funding” for the 2025 capital plan. The plan Gov. Hochul shelved would have brought total MTA debt to $60 billion and that’s still not enough? There’s a mass transit infrastructure problem, alright, and it’s the MTA itself! This unaccountable, mismanaged behemoth must be torn down and rebuilt from scratch! Send congestion pricing and the MTA back to the drawing board, governor! Arthur L. Miller
