Queens man arrested for fatally shooting his mother in the head: NYPD

A 36-year-old man was arrested for fatally shooting his mother in the head inside their Queens home, police said Saturday.

Natalie Coggins, 61, was found dead on the floor inside her home on 121st Ave. near Long St. — about a block away from Baisley Pond Park — about 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Coggins had been shot in the head, police said.

Cops immediately zeroed in on Coggins son, Deshawn Coggins, who witnesses said fled the home and drove off shortly before his mother’s body was discovered. He was later picked up in Brooklyn, police said.

The gun used in the shooting was recovered with the son, cops said.

Cops charged Deshawn with murder and weapons possession after questioning. His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was pending Saturday.

A motive for the killing was not immediately disclosed.
