Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) hasn’t been on screens for over a year and a half now as season five of the USA Network’s hit crime drama has been plagued by delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic. However, the cast and crew are back to film the highly-anticipated new season and while spoilers are being heavily guarded, snaps from Braga’s Instagram page hint the fifth run of Queen of the South is bound to be as gruesome as ever.
Heading into season five, it’s anyone’s guess just what is in store for the likes of Teresa, Pote (Hemky Madera) and Kelly Anne (Molly Burnett).
However, the season four finale certainly teed up some intriguing and explosive storylines – especially with James (Peter Gadiot) returning into Teresa’s life.
Bleeding out into Teresa’s arms, James’s shock return to the fray will undoubtedly take centre stage in Queen of the South season five.
However, there’s plenty more bloodshed elsewhere judging by some behind the scenes snaps from Braga (below).

Taking to her Instagram stories, Braga shared a handful of snaps from, what appears to be, the scene of a murder.
In one photo from behind the scenes, a man’s foot covered in blood can be seen.
And it looks like Teresa is going to be stood over the mystery victim judging by the angle Braga has taken the photo.
Braga jokingly captioned the snap: “Another day on #QOTS set.”
Back in December, James star Gadiot sent the Queen of the South fandom into meltdown with a selfie from the set.
Back in character as James with his famous neck tattoo, Gadiot captioned the post: “THE NECK TAT IS BACK.”
While a number of fans were excited to see their favourite character back in action, some picked up on the fact Gadiot had included the phrase “one last time” in a series of hashtags alongside the post.
And before long, a number took to the comments section to put forward the theory that Gadiot may have just confirmed a James exit in season five.
