PSG say Sergio Ramos will FINALLY start training next week following long-term calf problem amid reports they are considering TERMINATING his contract after injury-plagued start to life in Paris after leaving Real Madrid

  • Sergio Ramos has not made an appearance for PSG since he joined the club
  • The Spaniard completed a free transfer to Paris from Real Madrid in the summer
  • Ramos has been struggling with a calf problem but is set to return this month
  • The 35-year-old will start his PSG training next week, the club have revealed
  • He could play against Nantes on November 20 or at Man City four days later

Sergio Ramos will finally start Paris Saint-Germain training next week in a bid to bring his nightmare spell on the treatment table to an end.

The Spanish defender has yet to make an appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG since joining the French giants on a free transfer from Real Madrid over the summer.

This week marked six months since Ramos’ last competitive appearance in the game – a Champions League semi-final defeat to Chelsea on May 5 – with the 35-year-old picking up a calf problem over the summer.

But PSG confirmed in this week’s medical report that Ramos will join up with his PSG team-mates next week, meaning he is likely to make his debut for the French club at home to Nantes on November 20.

It also means the 35-year-old could be available for PSG’s Champions League clash away at Manchester City four days later, in what would be his European debut for the club.

Ramos signed a two-year contract believed to be worth around £250,000 a week, meaning the Spaniard has collected £4million from PSG without kicking a single ball for them.

His lack of availability is frustrating PSG chiefs and reports in France claimed earlier this week they are considering the prospect of tearing up Ramos’ contract.

French outlet Le Parisien has claimed PSG would be willing to let the centre-back walk away from the club if his fitness problems continue to hinder his chances of selection.

The club reportedly feel they made a mistake signing the 35-year-old and are now contemplating their next move.

However, they would need to reach an agreement with Ramos first before they can tear up his contract.

Meanwhile, Ramos is not the only PSG absentee ahead of this weekend’s clash away to Bordeaux as Lionel Messi has been ruled out as his knee and hamstring issues have not been resolved yet.

The French giants confirmed that the Argentine continued his rehabilitation at the Ooredoo Training Centre on Friday morning.

Messi was hauled off at half-time of PSG’s slender victory over Lille on October 29 and did not feature for the club’s Champions League draw at Leipzig earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Pochettino will be without midfielders Leandro Paredes, Marco Verratti and Rafinha this weekend, meaning they are likely to return after the international break.

Centre-back Presnel Kimpembe will spend the next ten days receiving treatment for a hamstring injury, which makes him a doubt for the first match back after the international break.
