Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has appeared to suggest he is not looking to leave, dealing a blow to Arsenal’s reported hopes of signing him.

However, the former Liverpool man looks to have ended any potential pursuit by highlighting that he is learning French and looking to continue his ‘integration’.

His comments come despite reports claiming that he is already unhappy with life in Paris, despite only making the move in the summer after becoming a free agent.

Speaking on PSG’s official Twitch channel, Wijnaldum said: ‘My integration went well. I arrived at a new club, a new league.

‘I learn every day from my teammates and the staff. They all helped me a lot to fit in.

‘We get to know each other a little more every day. I’m learning French too, it’s important for my integration.’

Boss Mauricio Pochettino has failed to hand Wijnaldum a regular starting spot in his side so far this season, although the 31-year-old has played 25 times.

He is currently ruled out with an ankle injury, and also opened up on his recovery.

‘I knew right away that it was a bit serious,’ he added.

‘Now I’m better but the recovery time varies for each player. During the recovery process, I work very hard, even more than normal.’
