Professor shares signs of each cancer – outlines the 'progressive symptoms'

It could be a sign of an enlarged prostate gland, but sometimes it could be cancer, so “get it checked”.

Prostate cancer UK said possible signs of the disease include:

  • Difficulty starting to urinate or emptying your bladder
  • A weak flow when you urinate
  • A feeling that your bladder hasn’t emptied properly
  • Dribbling urine after you finish urinating
  • Needing to urinate more often than usual, especially at night
  • A sudden need to urinate – you may sometimes leak urine before you get to the toilet

If the cancer has spread to other body parts, you might experience:

  • Back pain, hip pain or pelvis pain
  • Problems getting or keeping an erection
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Unexplained weight loss

Breast cancer

Cancer Research UK listed five symptoms of breast cancer to be aware of:

  • A new lump or thickening in your breast or armpit
  • A change in size, shape or feel of your breast
  • Skin changes in the breast such as puckering, dimpling, a rash or redness of the skin
  • Fluid leaking from the nipple in a woman who isn’t pregnant or breast feeding
  • Changes in the position of the nipple
