Two fast-thinking police officers nabbed a perp wanted for slashing a straphanger in an unprovoked attack on an Upper East Side subway platform, Cops announced Thursday.
Officers Sarr and Chowdhury recognized 27-year-old Amad Edwards from a wanted poster after stopping him for jumping a turnstile at the E. 125th station near Lexington Ave. in East Harlem Wednesday night, said police.
Edwards was being sought for slashing a 52-year-old man in the neck as he waited for a Bronx-bound No. 6 train at the 96th St. station around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, cops said.
The suspect ranted and screamed at the victim amid the unprovoked assault, according to police. Medics took the victim to an area hospital for treatment of a minor neck wound, cops said.
Edwards is charged with felony assault in the second degree, cops said.
