They must have a physical or mental health condition or disability which has caused difficulties with daily living, getting around or both, for the last three months.
In addition, they must expect these difficulties to continue for at least nine months.
Finally, to claim PIP, Britons usually need to have lived in England, Scotland or Wales for at least two of the last three years.
They must be in one of these countries when they make their application.
