Piers Morgan, 56, quit his role on Good Morning Britain earlier this month following a backlash to his response to the interview Meghan Markle, 39, gave with chat show host, Oprah Winfrey, 67. Since then, the rumour mill has been going into overdrive as to who could replace the outspoken journalist. However, according to sources, it appears the ITV show will be led by its first solo presenter in current host Susanna Reid, 50.
The insider explained of the Life Stories star’s replacement: “Piers’ sudden departure has, of course, put a rocket up everyone.
“But what ITV needs now, more than ever, are calm heads and someone to steady the ship. Susanna has proven herself a consummate broadcaster for the past ten years — and clearly has the star factor.”
They added the presenter will become the face of “The Susanna Show” as she’s put front and centre of Good Morning Britain.
“ITV have offered her their full backing, and she will have even more editorial say going forwards,” the source told The Sun.
