Piers Morgan, 56, shared Bill Gates’ statement in view of his 7.9 million Twitter followers this evening. The pair, who tied the knot in 1994, told fans they have decided to end their marriage after a “great deal of thought”.
Bill’s statement reads: “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.
“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.
“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

Piers shared the news, simply writing: “Wow,” seeming stunned at the news.
Melinda also posted the statement on her verified Twitter page, which has 2.5 million followers.
The former couple met in the late 1980s when she joined Bill’s Microsoft firm.
The billionaire businessman co-founded Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen in 1975.
Venturing into their own business together, he and his wife later started the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The organisation has spent billions fighting causes such as infectious diseases in children.
The pair share three children together; Rory, Jennifer and Phoebe.
