Photos of the suspects involved in the killing of actor Johnny Wactor in May have now been released, posted by the Los Angeles Police Department in a public appeal for any information on who may have murdered the onetime “General Hospital” star.
Authorities are seeking the would be catalytic-converter thieves, who drove off in a stolen 2018 black four-door Infiniti Q50 after one of them pumped a fatal bullet into Wactor’s chest on May 25.
The triggerman “has a tattoo above the left eye and on the right cheek,” police said in their public appeal. Police released the stills taken from video images on Sunday.
The 37-year-old actor was leaving his bartending job with a co-worker in the early hours of that fateful Saturday when he came upon the three men and confronted them because he thought he was being towed, his mother said at the time.
When he asked what was going on, their response was a shot to the chest that sent him stumbling backward into co-worker Anita Joy’s arms.
Joy had been working with Wactor at a rooftop bar and later said he had shielded her when they came upon the men messing with his car.
Police described the gunman as “suspect 1” in the shooting, which occurred at about 3:20 a.m. The car is shown in one photo, with the second photo showing the three men outside the vehicle.
Wactor’s family is holding out hope for justice.
“They will be caught. They will be found. They will be tried. We’re going to be here for that,” his brother Grant told “Today” in June.
“I’m hoping the community is sick enough that somebody will step up and help,” Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, told KABC on Monday.
Wactor was most known for his portrayal of Brando Corbin on ABC’s “General Hospital,” where he appeared in more than 160 episodes between 2020 and 2022. He also was in a slew of films and TV series, among them “Station 19,” “NCIS,” “Westworld,” “Criminal Minds” and the video game “Call of Duty: Vanguard.”
