Adam Plant, 42, was convicted earlier this month of groping a 13-year-old girl and sending a string of sexualised texts to her. However, throughout the police investigation, the dad of two has been earning money letting out his six-bedroom home, huge garden and hot tub.
The property is particularly popular with hen parties and gangs of friends, who were unaware of the sinister crime of the man sleeping in the garden.
And the angry mother of his teenage victim told Hull Live it is “sickening” to know people are paying to “line the pockets of a convicted paedophile”. The house, which is in Old Ellerby, East Yorkshire, costs a whopping £510 per night.
According to one recent review, Plant greeted his guests and was “always on hand” as he lives in the caravan on site.
But now, after learning of Plant’s criminal record, Airbnb has removed the property from its listings.
Plant will be sentenced for sexual activity with a girl under 16, engaging in sexual communication with a child and perverting the course of justice later this month.
He was described as a “fantastic host” in reviews left on Airbnb
One guest, who booked the property in July, said: “We booked Adam’s property for my Hen party and it was amazing. The kitchen/diner is a great space for entertaining and the kitchen has everything you’d need and more!
“Adam was a fantastic host and communication has been excellent since we booked. Very chilled, helpful and was around in case we needed him but otherwise we had our own space and privacy the whole time.”
Plant was recently advertising his home to over-18s only, in line with his bail conditions, but neglected to inform guests of the reason why the property is classed as ‘adult only’.
The house is described as “a fantastic spacious house for a celebration or relaxing break away for over 18’s only. The sun drenched decking and seating area at the back of the house is perfect for the afternoon/evening BBQs.”
But the mum of the man’s teenage victim complained to Airbnb.
“People should know, I know I wouldn’t want to stay there, knowing what he has done,” she said.
The mum, who made Airbnb aware of his convictions, added: “I don’t think people would want to stay there if they knew.
“His bail conditions mean he has to reside there in a mobile home in the property. It says only 18s can stay there and he had to change that, but he could still be perving over young women.
“People are paying money and lining his pockets and don’t realise he’s a convicted paedophile, it’s wrong. It’s sickening how he is making all this money renting it out.
“They need to be made aware as I’m sure they wouldn’t want to be paying £510 a night when a convicted paedophile is sleeping in the garden.
Airbnb said they immediately removed the property from their website once contacted by Hull Live.
A statement from Airbnb said: “The safety of our community is our priority, and we removed the user from the platform as soon as the matter was brought to our attention.”
