The Guardian’s columnist and Britain’s social conscience trailed in last place in a new survey, polling less than fellow lefties Ash Sarkar and Dianne Abbott. The poll, carried out by Find Out Now, surveyed 6,290 members of Pick My Postcode on Wednesday. Mr Jones could only muster one percent, while Ms Sarklar got 2.6 per cent of votes and Ms Abbott 2.5 per cent.
Top of the pops was Jeremy Clarkson, who received 21 per cent. Nigel Farage was the choice of 12 percent of those polled.
The news that Mr Clarkson is the fans’ favourite may come as a bitter-sweet surprise to the former Daily Mirror editor.
The two famously clashed at the 2004 press awards, becoming involved in an unseemly brawl.
In 2003, the Mr Clarkson, host of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, allegedly threw a glass of wine at Piers as they boarded Concorde’s last flight.
Relations between the two opinionated TV stars are said to have thawed after they took part in a six-hour drinking session in 2014.
Piers quit GMB this week after walking off the set on Tuesday morning, following a feisty argument with co-presenter Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview.

Former X factor judge Sharon Osbourne tweeted: “@piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you.
“People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”
While Fox News host and Donald Trump cheerleader Tucker Carlson told viewers: “He told the truth and refused to let the mob make him lie and that is an inspiration to all of us.”
Mr Morgan’s final appearance on ITV’s breakfast show saw rating figures surpass those of its BBC rival for the very first time, in a landmark achievement.
