Novak Djokovic’s victorious return to court comes to an end as he crashes out in Dubai after suffering quarter-final defeat to qualifier Jiri Vesely in straight sets which will see Daniil Medvedev snatch the World No 1 title from the Serb next week

Novak Djokovic crashed out of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships to qualifier Jiri Vesely in the quarter finals. 

The World No 1 has failed to make it through to the semi finals in his first tournament of the year as his start to the season suffered a rocky delay after being deported from Australia.

123rd-ranked Vesely shocked Djokovic in the first set, winning it 6-4 and continued his fine form in the second. 

He broke the Serb once again in the second set but Djokovic launched a comeback to break back. Vesely forced a tiebreak and ultimately won the second set 7-6 and the match.
