Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib’s decision to come out as the first openly gay player on an active NFL roster is a breath of fresh air in a league where players tend to make headlines for their misbehavior.
The reaction to Nassib’s courageous announcement has been overwhelmingly positive. After all, being gay has nothing to do with a person’s ability to sack quarterbacks and bravery is to be applauded.
Nassib has taken us one step further toward the day when individuals are judged solely on their character and ability, rather than whom they chose to love.
Bravo for Nassib.
