New iPad, Mac and AirPods could be revealed tomorrow as Apple hosts major launch event

0

Apple usually treats fans to some shiny new devices in the spring and it seems 2021 will be no different. The US technology firm is hosting a major launch event tomorrow, April 20, at its headquarters in Cupertino and expect plenty of exciting news and updated products to be revealed. The firm has released its usual teaser with an invite showing a hand-drawn Apple logo and the words “Spring Loaded. Please join us for a special Apple Event from Apple Park.” That could suggest it will be a gadget-packed event.

As with all Apple keynotes, we won’t find out anything official until tomorrow evening but there’s plenty of speculation about what could be coming and the star of the show might be a new iPad Pro.

This next-generation tablet looks set to get an improved processor, longer battery life and a better camera although the main upgrade is rumoured to be coming to the display.

It’s thought that the next iPad Pro, which hasn’t been upgraded since March 2020, will use a Mini LED panel rather than the current Retina display. This update could offer improved brightness, better contrast and less chance of screen burn – something that’s quite common with current OLED displays.

The final change could arrive in the form of a Thunderbolt port charging port that could replace the standard USB-C socket. If true, it should vastly improve data transfer times which is great news for professional users.

Along with that update to the iPad, there’s also the possibility of some new AirPods being released.

These refreshed music makers have been rumoured for months with some reports suggesting that they will get improved sound and a design which makes them look more like the premium AirPods Pro.

Another product that Apple may reveal during its “Spring Loaded” showcase is a new iMac.

This popular desktop PC hasn’t had a design overhaul in years and some experts believe that 2021 is the year when fans will finally get a completely new computer to pop on their desks.

Along with a new look – that could see owners get a display with reduced bezels – the iMac will almost certainly be powered by Apple’s new M1 processor.

This chip is already helping MacBook users get improved performance and extra battery life and the iMac could be next to receive this boost.

The final thing to watch out for tomorrow is the long-rumoured gadget tracking AirTags. These mini gadgets could soon be sticking to your tech and revealing where they are should they get lost.

Expect plenty of exciting news to be revealed during the spring event and Express.co.uk will bring you all the latest gossip and reaction live from the keynote.

Things will kick off at 6pm so check back for all the latest updates.
