Nathan’s Famous is celebrating National Hot Dog Day by offering customers the chance to snag a frank for a nickel today — the same price diners paid when the first Nathan’s opened in 1916.
The deal is available at participating Nathan’s —including its iconic flagship Coney Island location — from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, with a limit of two $0.05 dogs per order.
About seven billion hot dogs are eaten every year between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
Earlier this month, Patrick Bertoletti and Miki Sudo won the men’s and women’s contests at the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4.
