Napoli’s hopes of winning the Serie A title took a hit after suffering a 3-2 home defeat to Fiorentina.
The hosts started the game strongly and created chances to open the scoring. But it was Fiorentina who took the lead in the 29th minute thanks to Nicolas Gonzalez’s thumping volley from close-range.
Napoli came out on the front foot in the second half and got on level terms through Dries Mertens low strike after 58 minutes. Fiorentina regained their lead just eight minutes later through Jonathan Ikone before Arthur Cabral’s added a third. Victor Osimhen pulled one back for Napoli but it proved to be a consolation.
