Mum devastated after ‘despicable’ vandals destroy daughter’s grave

Lyndsay Marshall, 36, had gone to visit her daughter Kacey’s grave at a cemetery on Sunday, April 18, on what would have been her 17th birthday. When she arrived, she discovered that Kacey’s grave had been vandalised and her headstone was smashed to bits.

Ms Marshall told LincolnshireLive: “On Sunday, I got ready to go to her grave with some lovely flowers and windmills. The sun was shining, it was beautiful.

“I walked up to her grave to find it had been smashed with a hammer. I was in absolute bits. I feel sick that someone could do this to my baby’s grave.”

Kacey sadly died just two hours after she was born in 2004. Ms Marshall continued: “I lost Kacey when I was only 18. When I first lost her, I would go up [to her grave] every week.

“Kacey’s grave was the one place I could come and spend time with my daughter, cry and grieve. Now that has been taken away.

“But I have been overwhelmed by the number of messages I have received from people offering me flowers and ornaments.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to all my family and friends and everyone who has donated.”

The incident has been reported to Lincolnshire Police. A spokesperson said: “We can’t imagine why anyone would do this. This is beyond despicable and our hearts go out to the family.

“We appeal to anyone who has any information that will help us find who is responsible to contact us by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
