MTA track worker in critical condition after being hit by Brooklyn F train

An MTA track worker was in the ICU Thursday morning after he was hit by a train during an overnight track inspection in Brooklyn, the Daily News has learned.

The worker, who has not been identified, was in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital with injuries to his head and face after being struck by a northbound F train, transit sources told The News.

“He’s in the fight for his life right now,” said one source with knowledge of the incident.

The incident happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning on the tracks south of the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station in Downtown Brooklyn. The worker, part of a four-person track inspection team, was tasked with flagging down oncoming trains to alert them to the presence of a work crew.

The worker is at least the second flagger to be struck in seven months, following the November death of track worker Hilarion Joseph who was hit and killed while flagging on the D line in Manhattan.

This is a developing story.
