Mercedes already discontinued some of its older models including the SLC, AMG GT Convertible, and the CLS, as reported by Motor1.
The automaker has also replaced the coupe and convertible versions of the C-Class and E-Class with the CLE which offers a similar level of luxury as well as a choice of two turbocharged powertrains.
“Both provide smooth power and decent acceleration with help from standard all-wheel drive, while the interior coddles and is packed with tech,” reviewed Car and Driver.
Merging the C-Class and E-Class is part of the company’s broader strategy to streamline its coupe and convertible models.
The new CLE combines the sporty and dynamic features of the E-Class coupe with the larger, more status-oriented characteristics of the C-Class coupe.
The new model hopes to entice a wider net of car enthusiasts.
Those aren’t the only models that have been let go — the automaker is also getting rid of the T-Class and the Citan.
The T-Class is primarily known for being a dynamic and practical family vehicle with lots of space due to its compact van-like design.
It was made for families with extracurricular interests, providing more than enough cargo space and seating options.
The Citan is a strikingly similar model that has been applauded for its compact size and fuel efficiency.
While both models share similar dimensions and engines, the Mercedes T-Class offers drivers a more luxurious interior and enhanced technology.
The electric versions of those vans will be retired by mid-2026 in favor of larger, more profitable commercial vans.
Mercedes could also be cutting the GLC Coupe and the GLE Coupe, as per CarsDirect.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and GLE Coupe are similar in style, but the GLE Coupe is larger, more powerful, and more expensive.

Automakers decide to discontinue models for several reasons including a change in consumer behavior, declining sales, or even stricter safety or environmental guidelines.
However, automakers have been consumed by President Trump’s tariffs and how they will impact the auto industry.
Many automakers are trying to shift production to the United States to avoid paying the extra fees.
A tariff surcharge has already appeared on company and consumer receipts across several industries.
Consumers are asking retailers for transparency regarding the add-on fee, calling for retailers to be explicit about when they tack on the surcharge.
