Memphis Church’s Chicken employee shot dead after drive-thru argument

Police in Memphis are searching for a woman suspected of fatally shooting a Church’s Chicken employee following an argument in the restaurant’s drive-thru.

The shooting occurred around 9:10 p.m. on Monday at a location southeast of downtown Memphis, officials said.

Officers arrived and found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. She was transported to Regional One Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, the Memphis Police Department said.

Investigators learned the suspect, a woman with purple hair, came to the restaurant’s drive-thru in a SUV before arguing with the female employee. It’s unclear what the disagreement was about.

“The teal-colored SUV drove off the lot and the victim walked outside of the business to get some air,” police wrote in a news release. “A few moments later, a gunshot was heard and the teal-colored SUV was seen on video speeding off the parking lot.”

The employee was found wounded soon after. Her name and age have not been released.

No arrests have been made and police said their investigation is ongoing.
