Maxx Crosby in major new career venture away from Las Vegas Raiders that drops huge hint over NFL retirement plans

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS star Maxx Crosby has landed a shock new job at Eastern Michigan University.

The pass rusher has been confirmed as the football program’s new assistant general manager.

Crosby, 27, is the first active NFL player to hold the position.

His work will include helping Eastern Michigan come to decisions on youngsters from high school.

The fourth round 2019 Draft pick will also have a say in how their budget is spent.

His expertise will also help students as he is ready to work in alumni relations, student-athlete support and fundraising.

Crosby and his wife Rachel donated $1million to the university in 2023.

He has also launched the “Maxx Match” scheme that sees him dip into his bank account to match any donations made to the football program by the end of made by May up to $100,000.

On re-joining the university, Crosby said in a statement: “There is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University.

“It truly is an honor for me to not only be named the Assistant GM of the EMU, but together with my wife Rachel, make another donation aimed at creating opportunities for other athletes to be impacted by the EMU program, community, students and alumni.”

Chief Scott Wetherbee added: “Maxx Crosby’s return to EMU in this leadership role is a transformative moment for our football program.

“His passion, vision, and generosity are inspiring, and the Maxx Match is a powerful example of that.

“With him on board, we’re building a better football program and a stronger future for EMU athletics.”

The move has led to some speculating he could retire but there are no signs he is ready to end his playing career just yet.

Lapeer-born Crosby is still at the top of his game, having made 59.5 sacks in his six seasons as an NFL player.

And he put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Raiders worth $106.5m last month.

Becoming an assistant GM is not his first move outside of the NFL after becoming a minority owner of the MMA Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
