Speaking before the game, Watford captain Troy Deeney expressed a belief that Greenwood would be enjoying his football with Fernandes and Paul Pogba in such fine form.
He said: “I think with Fernandes, I think he now makes Pogba play better as well.
“Pogba now has someone he sees and respects, in terms of quality and puts him on the same level as himself.
“When he’s driving, it makes Pogba do that as well. Obviously, the boys up front: Rashford, Greenwood, they’re all high-quality players as well.”
And Solskjaer recently hailed Greenwood by saying: “Before the Liverpool game – which would have been his 100th for the club by the way – we’d set to him, ‘make sure you score the winner’.
