Manchester United set to miss out on Erling Haaland as Sergio Aguero move encouraged

Manchester United transfer news is coming thick and fast ahead of the summer window. The Red Devils are eager to sign Erling Haaland, with the Borussia Dortmund star their priority target. So Express Sport will now bring you all the latest news from Old Trafford with the Norwegian, Sergio Aguero, Dean Henderson and Youri Tielemans featuring.

United to miss out on Haaland

United appear set to miss out on Haaland with Spanish pundit Eduardo Inda claiming a move to Real Madrid is ‘practically done’.

He told OkDiario: “Haaland’s signing for Madrid is practically done. It is closer than it seems.

“One of the keys is Florentino’s great harmony with the president of Dortmund, who are contemporary and get along very well.

“The negotiation with Raiola is being carried out by Jose Angel Sanchez and the agreement with the footballer is closed.”

Real Madrid could sign Haaland as they look for long-term Karim Benzema replacements.

Aguero move encouraged

United have been encouraged to move for Sergio Aguero by Paul Ince amid the striker’s uncertain future at Manchester City.

He told Ladbrokes: “It’s not as if Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are the only two answers for Man United though.

“Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him? You could see it now; if he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.

“It can happen, who knows? You’ve got to ask the question if you’re United because you never know.

“It happened with us back in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson was asking Sir Alex Ferguson about Denis Irwin. Fergie said there’d be no chance of that happening and suggested Leeds sold Cantona to them and within a couple of days that deal was done.

“It was just Fergie throwing a name out there and taking a chance, trying his luck. Maybe that’s what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should do with Aguero this summer.”

Chadwick urges Tielemans move

Former United star Luke Chadwick thinks the club should sign Youri Tielemans this summer if Donny van de Beek departs.

“Yeah I think he plays that sort of role where he’s got a bit of everything,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside.

“He’s played a deeper role when James Maddison plays, and it would be great to have someone like him to feed the ball into Bruno Fernandes.

“But he does the other stuff as well, he puts a shift in. When he came on loan to Leicester initially he was a revelation, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in that period. I think when he signed permanently he had a dip in form, but he looks back to his best, and he’s had a massive role in Leicester’s form in the Premier League.

“Quite often we see players play well against United and we think ‘could we get him and could he do well in our team’ and I think he’s got all the attributes to be a Manchester United player, but he’s playing for Leicester, another top club. Would they be able to prise him away?

“Looking at United’s options in that area of the pitch, he’s very similar to Pogba. He’s an exciting player that might be worth looking into bringing in, but as with other top players it could be a challenge to get them through the door at United.”
