Man Utd 'willing to break the bank' to land Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's priority signing

Manchester United are willing to break the bank to get a player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has prioritised since last season. Though they may not need to with Lucas Vazquez’s contract at Real Madrid expiring at the end of the campaign.

Manchester United are willing to break the bank to land Vazquez this summer.

It comes after Solskjaer made signing a right-back a priority to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has largely owned the role throughout his two seasons at Old Trafford.

There are no questions over the former Crystal Palace’s form, but a similar situation helped Luke Shaw on the opposite flank when Alex Telles joined last year.

Several targets had been mooted, including Kieran Trippier and Max Aarons, but Vazquez could be the ideal option.

The Spaniard is not naturally a right-back by trade but has adopted the role this year under Zinedine Zidane amid injury problems with Dani Carvajal.

It means that the 29-year-old is a versatile option that could provide usefulness to a squad over the course of a long season.

His contract is also set to expire at the end of the campaign and there has been trouble over a renewal.

According to Sport, via Sport Witness, Madrid have offered him a new deal but it includes a 10 per cent pay cut.

As a result, the winger has told Real he will not be accepting and is looking at other options.

United are one of those and are prepared to break the bank to do so, offering him a huge deal to leave the Bernabeu.

However, Bayern Munich are also in the hunt for the former Espanyol star and can match United’s bid.

There are many players being eyed by the Red Devils this summer, including Declan Rice, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland.
