Mazraoui’s move has largely hinged on the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The ex-Crystal Palace star was reluctant to leave the Theatre of Dreams this summer and favoured a move to Inter Milan previously if it was ruled that he was being replaced.
However, West Ham pushed to acquire the services of Wan-Bissaka and an agreement was eventually reached on personal terms with the 26-year-old. His move to the Hammers is expected to be completed today as well, with his medical previously booked for Sunday.
It remains to be seen whether Wan-Bissaka is United’s final sale of the window or whether Ten Hag and Ratcliffe rule that Lindelof is also a replaceable asset who can be moved on as part of the squad’s shake-up as well.
