Man Utd star Eric Bailly apologised to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after ‘verbal conflict'

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly apologised to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after recent ‘verbal conflict’, reports say. The Ivory Coast international is unhappy at being frequently overlooked for Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. And he could leave for Inter Milan in this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester United have, for the most part, fielded Lindelof and Maguire at the back this season.

And that’s reportedly upset Bailly who, according to the Daily Record, had a row with Solskjaer over his lack of playing time.

The Ivory Coast international was unhappy at the Norweigan’s plan to bench him for the second leg of the club’s Europa League tie with AC Milan.

And it’s claimed he apologised in the aftermath of their row – yet was left out of the matchday squad regardless and is yet to be selected since.

United are said to have made progress over a new deal for Bailly.

Yet they now face the prospect of him leaving Old Trafford instead, with Serie A giants AC Milan keep to bring him to the San Siro at the end of the campaign.

Should that happen, Bailly would be the latest player from the Red Devils to move to Antonio Conte’s side.

Inter raided United for Romelu Lukaku back in the summer transfer window of 2019, paying £75million to land the Belgium international.

Alexis Sanchez then swapped England for Italy that same window, moving initially on loan before completing a permanent move away from Old Trafford last year.

And Ashley Young, in January 2020, also decided to embark on a new challenge away from the Premier League.

The report says United value Bailly at £17million.

But Inter will supposedly try and haggle that fee down in order to ensure they sign the 26-year-old at the end of the season.

A friend of Bailly’s recently told Sky Sports News the African star was happy at Manchester – but unhappy with his lack of action under Solskjaer.

“Eric loves the club and the fans,” they were quoted as saying.

“His family are settled in Manchester and he’d like nothing more than to spend the rest of his career at Old Trafford.

“But he feels the club has been very disrespectful towards him and frankly he’s had enough.

“He feels that no matter what he does, he will never be first choice for Ole.

“He now realises he’s too good and too young to spend his time sitting on the bench.”

Bailly could be involved when United lock horns with Brighton on Saturday, looking to bounce back from their 3-1 FA Cup exit to Leicester shortly before the international break.

And Solskjaer has previewed that clash by saying: “Since I came we’ve played them quite a few times and we’ve always had some hard-fought games, difficult games.

“When you prepare for a game against Brighton you can see all our players with bright eyes because they really respect the way they play and the quality that they’ve had against us.

“We know that we have to be on our best to earn the right to play because you have to work really hard to get the ball off them.”

The Norwegian also expressed a belief that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had improved this term.

“I think he’s done remarkably well and his improvement has been there for everyone to see,” the United boss added.

“He’s still defensively as solid, one against one he’s still great, but what I like is that he contributes more and more going forward as well, creating chances, joining in, but it’s still very early in his full-back career.

“I still think we’ll see a lot of improvement from Aaron.

“You do see it in training and on the pitch as well, I think that’s for everyone to see.”
