Man Utd ratings at Leicester: Harry Maguire has shocker on return from injury but Rashford gives hope on grim day

MAN UTD were well below-par against a superb Leicester, who fully deserved the three points to pile the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mason Greenwood gave Man Utd the lead after 19 minutes with an absolute rocket from 25-yards and Rashford levelled late in the second half on his return to the side.

But Youri Tielemans got Leicester back in it with a stunning effort that looped over a stranded David De Gea just after the half hour mark and Caglar Soyuncu then put them ahead, only for Rashford to equalise.

But Leicester ran rampant in the last ten minutes, with Jamie Vardy and Patson Data taking the game away from the Red Devils late on.

SunSport’s George Moore runs the rule over how United’s stars performed at the King Power stadium:

DAVID DE DEA – 5/10

Was culpable for giving the ball away at the back for Tielemans’ goal, but there was nothing he could do about the strike itself.

Had a difficult night in goal, but the Leicester goals were all well crafted and he couldn’t do too much to prevent them.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 5/10

Was caught out at the back-post for Leicester’s fourth goal and offered very little going forward.

Not a good game for the full-back.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 6/10

Got the assist for the Rashford goal with a superb ball over the top.

But otherwise struggled to cope with Vardy up front.

HARRY MAGUIRE – 4/10

Had a game to forget after a mix-up with De Gea gave Leicester the chance for their opening goal.

Looked a yard off the pace and was constantly jeered by his former club’s fans, which looked to have taken it’s toll on the Utd captain.

LUKE SHAW – 5/10

Didn’t have his worst game in a Man Utd shirt but was less involved than usual and gave the ball away too often.

NEMANJA MATIC – 5/10 (OFF 80 MINS)

Struggled to contain the mercurial Youri Tielemans and failed to fulfil his duty of guarding his backline against the rampant Leicester attackers.

PAUL POGBA – 5/10

A disappointing showing from Pogba in midfield after winning the Nations League with France last week.

The Frenchman started off the campaign with a bang, but is rapidly tailing off after a couple of below par outings of late.

MASON GREENWOOD – 6/10 (OFF 80 MINS)

Scored the goal that gave Utd the lead in the first half, but was otherwise quiet for the rest of the game.

Was subbed in the second half.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 4/10

A poor showing by his very high standards.

Struggled to create chances and was utterly outbattled by Leicester’s midfield.

JADON SANCHO – 5/10 (OFF 65 MINS)

Another difficult game for Sancho on the left-wing, who has yet to complete 90 minutes in the league for the Red Devils.

The £73m man struggled to make his mark on the game and was substituted just after the hour mark.

CRISTIANO RONALDO – 5/10

After scoring a hat-trick for Portugal on Tuesday, Utd fans might have expected Ronaldo to get back amongst the goals this afternoon.

But the 36-year-old was absent for large chunks of the game and was starved of service from Utd’s creative players.

After scoring three goals in his first two, CR7 has now failed to score for the third league game in a row.

SUBSTITUTES:

MARCUS RASHFORD – 7/10 (ON 65 MINS)

Looked lively when he came on and made a great run for his goal, which he slotted in superbly.

The one saving grace of a dire Utd performance.

JESSE LINGARD – N/A (ON 80 MINS)

Had one shot on goal but was otherwise unable to make an impact.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY – N/A (ON 80 MINS)
