Man Utd hit by coronavirus outbreak as three of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's staff test positive

Manchester United have reportedly been hit by a coronavirus outbreak. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are due to meet Newcastle in their Premier League clash today. However, preparations for that game have now been disrupted with three staff members testing positive.

United are due to face Newcastle today.

However, the Mirror claim three coached working with the first team have now tested positive for coronavirus just hours before that match.

The game will go ahead as planned and the coaches involved were reportedly absent for the 4-0 win over Real Sociedad in midweek.

United themselves have released an official statement on the matter, saying: “Nicky Butt and Mark Dempsey will join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the bench this evening due to some of the coaching staff having to self isolate.

“The home Premier League game against Newcastle United at Old Trafford will kick off at 19:00 GMT.”

United have, for the most part, been able to avoid outbreaks of COVID-19.

Paul Pogba returned a positive test earlier in the season and it took the France international a while to get back to hiss swaggering best.

Facundo Pellistri also tested positive and that prevented the Uruguayan from making his debut in the January FA Cup win over Championship side Watford.

United go up against Newcastle on Saturday seeking a return to winning ways in the Premier League.

They drew 1-1 with West Brom last time out, with Bruno Fernandes earning the Red Devils a point.
