Man killed, three others injured after small boats collide in Brooklyn


A man was killed, and three other people were injured Saturday after their vessels crashed into each other in Brooklyn waters, cops said.

A “small water vessel”, with a 45-year-old woman and two men, ages 58 and 56 onboard, collided with a second craft, occupied by a 68-year-old man at around 11:50 a.m. in Gerritsen Creek near Avenue X, cops said.

FDNY Marine unit members found the 58-year-old man knocked unconscious in the water when they arrived at the scene. First responders performed CPR on the man before rushing him to NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn but he could not be saved. Doctors pronounced the man dead at about 1:05 p.m., police said.

A man was killed, and three other people were injured after their vessels crashed into each other in Brooklyn waters Saturday afternoon, cops said. A “small water vessel”, with a 45-year-old woman and two men, ages 58 and 56 onboard, collided with a second craft, occupied by a 68-year-old man at around 11:50 a.m. in the Gerritsen Creek near Avenue X.

Medics brought the 56-year-old man and 45-year-old woman to the same hospital where they were both in stable condition.

The 68-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries, cops said.

Cops said it was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

There have been no arrests. The investigation remained underway Saturday evening.
