The video, which was posted to Facebook, shows the magpie pining for attention with a large pooch sitting nonchalantly nearby.
The footage has impressed many online, with multiple people praising the clever creature.
‘OMG emotional blackmail! Bet it works every time,’ one person wrote.
‘So intelligent,’ another wrote.
‘Smarter then a lot of humans,’ joked another.
It’s not the first time a magpie has paired up with a pooch on social media.
The multi-skilled bird species has been in the spotlight before, when the ABC reported on a magpie called Molly befriending a big English Staffy after the bird was rescued by the dog’s owner at a park in 2020.
After they unsuccessfully tried to reunite the magpie with its parents, the bird was brought home and was nursed back to health.
